The Digital Pathology Algorithm DevOps team seeks a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead QCS Algorithms deployments. The role involves active collaboration with developers, product owners, release train engineers, and other DevOps team members. The principal DevOps engineer will lead design automation and deploy various algorithms across development, testing, and production environments. As a Principal DevOps Software Engineer, you will interface with software developers, product managers, test engineers, and administrators to design and develop build, release, and deployment toolchains, while providing on-call support. You should be able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues quickly and effectively, sometimes under pressure. Responsibilities include capacity planning, high availability engineering, performance tuning, and automation/tools development.

This position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence three days per week.

The Opportunity

  • Design and develop the build, release, and deploy toolchain for DevOps.
  • Set up, manage, and maintain parity across development, staging, and production environments in cloud infrastructure.
  • Provide release cadence across multiple environments.
  • Prototype and develop cloud-native architecture solutions for application needs.
  • Design and implement monitoring infrastructure development.

Who you are

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering/DevOps roles.
  • You have demonstrated expertise in DevOps practices, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
  • You are experienced with CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • You have extensive cloud platform experience, especially with AWS.
  • You are proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
  • You have strong scripting and automation skills.
  • You are an excellent team player with mentoring skills, guiding cross-functional teams toward automation goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python.
  • Terraform expertise.
  • Managing deployments on EKS.
  • Prior product development experience.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL technologies like Redis and DynamoDB.

The expected salary range for this position, based in Santa Clara, CA, is $142,500 to $264,700. Actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, location, and other factors. A discretionary bonus may be offered based on performance.
