Team (Project) IntroductionThis position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs' Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The team is composed of Oracle experts including architects, administrators, and developers, working in partnership with Oracle Commercial Professional Services. Together, they assess the current environment, provide system metrics and documentation, and implement approved recommendations to optimize the EDW platform and support future cloud migration. The Developer reports to the Project Manager and receives technical direction from senior engineering staff.
Professional Level InformationThe Database Administrator position aligns as an Engineer 1 at 9th Way Insignia. An Engineer 1 performs engineering-related tasks such as identifying technical problems, supporting ongoing project work, and testing and troubleshooting components. This individual is technically proficient, eager to learn, and collaborates with other engineers to solve a variety of challenges.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and advanced Oracle database administration activities under the direction of the Senior Database Architect.
- Monitor system performance and provide logs, reports, and metrics to support optimization and performance tuning.
- Apply configuration updates, patches, and security fixes in coordination with the team.
- Assist with implementing Oracle Commercial Services recommendations as approved by the government customer.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and recoverability of Oracle databases.
- Collaborate with developers to support ETL processes and integration of BI reporting tools.
- Participate in quality assurance and validation of configuration changes.
- Provide technical support during system upgrades, testing, and migration planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering or technical discipline.
- An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
- 0–6 years of relevant experience in database administration.
- Familiarity with Oracle 19c or similar platforms.
- Basic understanding of ETL pipelines, OBIEE, GoldenGate, and related Oracle tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Tier 2/Moderate clearance. Existing clearances are preferred.
- Must be available to work onsite 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday at 1800 G Street NW, Washington, DC.
Preferred
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or equivalent certification.

Salary Range
$77,135—$84,900 USD
